MADIBA

Mandela aka MADIBA....

That's it the first World Cup in Africa will start tomorrow (or today depends of your zone)and it would be rude if I didn't blog about this historical moment .

This man right here ,Mr Nelson Mandela (along with his ex-wife Winnie Mandela ) is without any doubts the most famous citizen of South Africa.

Mandela in few words that's an anti-apartheid activist, the leader of African National Congress(ANC). In 1962, he was arrested and convicted of sabotage and other charges, and sentenced to spend 27 years in prison. Hopefully,on the 11 February 1990 he was released and led his party into negotiations that conducted to a multi-racial democracy in 1994,and won the election, during his presidency 1994-1999 he recieved a Nobel Peace Prices.

Personally , the fact that he is still alive to acknowledge this moment is a total blessing and a great example of hope , an example of an Africa that never gives up and always fight to settle for the best. Many countries would be celebrating their 50 years of INDEPENDENCE this year or had already, so I guess the overwhelming of all those events makes 2010 THE African year no doubts what so ever.
